News Network has been awarded eight journalists for best reporting on Democracy and Human Rights issues. Each of the journalists was awarded certificate and prize money at an award giving ceremony held on 29 February 2016 at News Network Office in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
The winners are: First – Maksud Ali, Staff Reporter, The Daily Probaha, Khulna; Second – Mohammad Ali, Correspondent, Dainik Deshbarta, Di najpur; Third – Rashidul Islam, Staff Reporter, Manabzamin, Khulna. Five journalists jointly secured the fourth position. They are Hedait Hossain, Reporter, Jugantor, Khulna; Golam Rabbani Sourov, Correspondent, Bahumatrik.com, Bogra; Amit Roy, Correspondent, Jugantor, Mymensingh; Shihab Uddin Bipu, Correspondent, NTV, Brahmanbaria; Abdur Razzak Rana, Bureau Chief, Dainik Sangram, Khulna.
Competition was limited to the Journalists, working from remote districts and trained up by the News Network with the support of the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF).
Juries, trainers and organisers including, Farid Hossain, Correspondent, Time Magazine and Former Bureau Chief Associated Press, Dhaka; Shamsuddin Ahmed, Former Joint Editor, The Daily Observer; Ziaur Rahman, Special Correspondent, The Financial Express; and News Network Editor Shahiduzzaman were present in the occasion.
