A four -day media training-workshop for CSOs and NGOs has ended successfully on 6thApril 2016 at Sylhet town, northeastern district headquarter of Bangladesh. News Network with the support of the United Nations Democracy Fund(UNDEF) organised the programme. 15 representatives from CSOs/NGOs participated in the training. Media expert and reputed trainer Dr. Hossain Shahriar a
nd News Network Editor Shahiduzzaman conducted the training, aiming to improve their report writing and communication ability on the issues related to democracy and human rights. It’s a first of its kind training programme in this area. Participants found the training effective and useful to perform their duty more professionally and to promote the issues confidently. They have requested to organise follow-up training and expand the initiative to other districts because violation of human rights are now visible everywhere and it now became a regular practice in the society, participants said.
Chief Executive of the district Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Md. Jaynal Abedin along with some officials attended in the closing ceremony of the training held on 6th April afternoon at Sylhet Press Club. Mr. Abedin highly appreciated UNDEF for providing fund for such initiative. He said, promoting democracy and human rights need combined support of all concern stakeholders and people. Later Deputy Commissioner distributed certificates among the participants. Press Club President Ikramul Kobir, Dr. Hossain Shahriar and News Network Editor Shahiduzzaman also spook in the occasion.
