ILLUMINATING NEW SOLUTIONS AND PROGRAMMATIC INNOVATIONS FOR RESILIENT SPACES (INSPIRES)

Dhaka, Bangladesh:  News Network and Internews with funding assistance from USAID implemented the project,
‘Illuminating New Solutions and Programmatic Innovations for Resilient Spaces (INSPIRES)’ in
the country. The objective of it was to Increase the digital knowledge of journalists and human rights
defenders to operate safely in an increasingly restricted digital environment. And, the ultimate
goal was to promote strengthening independent media in Bangladesh.

The project covered three districts, including Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Jashore districts. About 77 journalists and human rights defenders was directly benefited from this initiative. Major activities of it were: to organize a ToT programme on digital security and hygiene issues, aiming to develop a group of expert trainers on the issues; conduct field- level training to improve the capacity of local journalists and human rights defenders on digital security and hygiene, where ToT graduates will conduct the sessions; and mentoring the trainees for their further improvement.
